Annual Kerr Lake Trip
Believe it or not, this was the 20th trip Venture Patrol (Star rank & age 14) to the Runkle house at Kerr Lake. On Saturday we spent nearly every minute on the water. With tubing, wake boarding, water skiing and wake surfing, I don't think we missed out on any water activities. Our many thanks to the Runkle family for allowing us to use thier lake house for all these many years.

Snowshoe, WV Ski Trip 2/19-21/2010
We certainly can't complain about the snow on our Snowshoe, WV ski trip. There were tons!!! On the drive up to the top of the mountain, the snow was piled up higher than our cars. We all got our ski legs in shape by skiing from 9:00 A.M. until 8:30 P.M. Other than our one snowboarding injury, I think everyone had a great time. And even he wants to try it again... but maybe not on a snowboard.

Snowshoe Ski Trip 2/6-8/09
12 Scouts and 3 Leaders enjoyed a great weekend of skiing at Snowshoe, WV. We got moving early on Saturday, got our gear at 7:30, had breakfast then skied at Snowshoe until the slopes closed at 4:00. At 5:30, we drove over to Silver Creek and skiied there until they closed at 9:00.
With great weather and good snow conditons everyone stayed on the slopes and got in all the skiing they could take. I don't think anyone had any trouble sleeping on Saturday night.
I understand that there's a toss up for the biggest splat of the day between Todd E. and Mr. Hyers. Too bad we don't have some action photos.
All together a great trip for troop 747!!!

BBQ-Chicken Dinner 2/3/09
Our annual fund raiser, the Troop's BBQ/Chicken Dinner, was held Tuesday, February 3rd and was a HUGE success.
We sold over 1800 lunches & dinners!
All the proceeds from this event are used to fund the activities of Troop and each Scout gets credit for their individual sales that they can use toward the expense of any Troop activity.
The success of this event insures that our Troop can maintain it's high level of involvement in monthly campouts, summer camp and other Scout activities & events, including the 2010 National Jamboree and the Philmont Trek.
Our sincere thanks to all who supported this event!

The "Frozen Chosen" Camp & Hike Uwharrie
Our Troop spent last weekend, 11/22-23, camping and hiking at Uwharrie. Although the temperature reportedly (by Mr. Runkle) got down to 16 degrees on Friday night, we survived and had fun.
On Saturday, we hiked about 6 miles (with a lunch stop on the shore of Badin Lake) to our campsite for Saturday. Everyone cooked an individual meal, enjoyed a campfire and all slept well after the hiking.
All in all an excellent weekend of Scouting!

August 2008 - Kerr Lake Trip
Mr. D Runkle graciously hosted Troop 747's 18th annual trip to his family's house at Kerr Lake. We water skied, wake boarded, wake surfed and tubed, then ate and skied some more.
There were lots of sore but happy Scouts come Sunday afternoon when we headed home.
Many thanks to Mr. Runkle for continuing this great event!

Our Troop just returned from Summer Camp at Camp Bonner on the Pamlico Sound. By all reports, everyone had a great time and earned several merit badges. On their return there was an impressive display of bug bites, smelly clothes and tired Scouts - all signs of a great camp experience.
